Fashion Design Students Reveal Top Gifts for Holiday 2010

Los Angeles, CA (Vocus/PRWEB) November 18, 2010

Fashion students at FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising talk about what to buy and where to shop for fashionistas everywhere this holiday season.

From favorite boutiques to luxury items, design students know exactly what?s on trend.

Boots are a must, whether they are over-the-knee, combat, heeled, or flat. Product Development student Hannah Kirk says Spanish retailer Zara has the perfect pair?stiff leather thigh-highs in camel. Other colors in fashion include soft grey and black.

Fashion students are keeping the environment and other social issues in mind as they make their wish lists. Product Development student Brittni Murphy would like to conserve and is looking for pieces that she can wear more often and in different ways. ?I need a jacket that I can dress up and dress down.? And faux fur is preferable to fur. Merchandise Marketing Student Jennifer Splinter would love a carmel beige faux fur jacket that?s ?very Rachel Zoe,? she says.

Holiday shoppers will definitely find themselves visiting the Apple store. The iPad is number one on Visual Communications Student Amber Brown?s list. Second to that, she would really like to have a new flat iron by Croc. ?It?s the best one out there.?

Other items on the sartorial wish list are Sam Edelman shoes (any style), Gucci ?Guilty? perfume, big bags, and classic black leather jackets. As far as stores, Brittni says, ?You can?t go wrong with Free People and Anthropologie.? And gift certificates to MAC Cosmetics and Sephora would be welcome.

Not everything is a material want, however. Emilie Boschung left her native Switzerland to study Fashion Design at FIDM, so the number one thing on her list would be to have her friends from home come out to Los Angeles for a visit in the California sunshine. But, besides that she admits a Chanel bag would be nice.

With four dynamic California campuses, FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising is the premier west coast fashion college, educating for careers in fashion, graphic design, interior design, and entertainment. FIDM?s graduates include renowned fashion designers like Monique Lhuillier, Emmy? and Academy Award? award-winning costume designers, top fashion industry executives, and entrepreneurs.
